Spirituality Versus Religion

 

When people ask me the difference between spirituality and religion. I just get little confused and dive in the thinking that what should be the difference? After a little conversation with Dr Ravi Vats, I found a little Idea about the concept, not the whole, but it's enough to understand the beginning and when you begin something it becomes easier to reach its end. Before I proceed further I want to thank sir for his great nature to understand and great ability to get the another person involved deeply in the topic. I was always fascinated about being spiritual but never wanted to be religious, when people said you're in dilemma because there is no difference between religion and spirituality, I couldn't accept that in any manner so I started thinking about my likes and dislike that why do I don't like being religious why do I always like being spiritual. Sir defined me that religion is not spirituality because religion gives you the identity the concepts about right and wrong that may vary with religion to religion but actually they varies. For instance in Islam cow slaughter is not a wrong thing but in Hiduism it is the biggest sin. Means they are the ideas of human or may be of someone divine. But for sure they are the ideas which defines about the right or wrong. But in spirituality we can never measure about any act in a clear cut manner as there is no clear cut difference between right and wrong.  Spirituality is derived from the spirit and spirit is something like energy. Sir told me spirituality is not being religious it's being in harmony with everything, it's following the laws of nature it's about thinking the right or wrong of humanity it's being above the concepts of religion caste creed. It's about being sensitive to life's every flow. 

Spirit is the ultimate form of energy which doesn't accept disharmony when we do cruel acts we are spoiling our spirituality and being materialistic. When we want more harmony more peace we are being spiritual, when we want everyone being satisfied and everyone being happy. We are being spiritual. Optimism is also another attribute of being spiritual. Spiritual people watch the cruelest thing with deep love. This is the difference between being spiritual and being religious, when you are religious you're going to find your religion the purest and your people as the purest and hence it gave rise to casteism in the society. But when you're spiritual everyone is same for you irrespective of his caste, economic condition. You're going to watch the lotus in whole filthy mud. This is the beauty of being spiritual. Buddha was not religious he was spiritual and hence he found beauty in everything. He recognised every face as divine face.
